Kevin Glenn‘s tour of duty in the CFL is complete after the 38-year-old veteran quarterback signed with the Edmonton Eskimos on Monday.

In 17 years, Glenn has now been a part of every CFL organization.

Glenn threw for over 4,000 yards and 25 touchdowns in 2017, leading the Saskatchewan Roughriders to a 10 – 8 record and a trip to the Eastern Final. He is also  sixth all-time in CFL passing yards with 52,867 yards.

He was released by the Riders earlier this month after they re-signed Brandon Bridge and traded for Zach Collaros.

Signing with the Eskimos completes the CFL circle of life for Glenn, who started his career in 2001 in Saskatchewan where he returned two more times. He has also had two stints in Winnipeg plus time playing with Hamilton, Calgary, British Columbia and Montreal.

Glenn never suited up for the Toronto Argonauts or the Ottawa Redblacks, but was a member of both organizations for a time during an off season.

A few teams had talked with Glenn since his release, but he says completing the cycle was part of his decision process in signing with the Eskimos.

“That played a part in it, I’d be lying to you if I said it didn’t” Glenn said.

“It’s history, it’s not like I played nine years for nine different teams. I’m going into my 18th year and have had a lot of success. It’s a situation where I was valued in the league and at the same time I did what I needed to do individually and as a teammate to show clubs that I’m a guy that you can count on.”

The move was an easy one for Eskimos vice president and general manager Brock Sunderland

“We have a guy who I think we can put right in there” said Sunderland, who added that it was a seamless negotiation.

“He has been around a long time and well versed on what a fair deal is. We went back and forth for about a week and half, then came to a point where we thought it was fair”
