A Saskatoon car dealership has been fined for a workplace safety violation after a worker was injured on the job.
The worker suffered head injuries on March 8, 2016 near Saskatoon after being struck by debris when a coil spring compressor malfunctioned.
Oakwood Motors, operating as Infiniti Saskatoon, was charged under occupational health and safety (OHS) regulations with failing to install safeguards strong enough to withstand the impact of debris from a machine failure and to contain any debris.

The company was found guilty and fined $28,000 on Dec. 19 in Saskatoon provincial court.
Labour relations and workplace safety officials said safeguards help prevent injuries by making sure workers don’t come into contact with moving machinery parts.
They added safeguards need to be inspected regularly to ensure they are effective.
