The RCMP have a man in custody after they were called to an armed gas station robbery in Maskwacis Wednesday afternoon.

The Mounties received the call at around 3:15 p.m. and had a 39-year-old man in custody within two hours.

According to RCMP, a man walked into the Montana Gas Bar with a gun and started threatening people. He demanded gas for his white van, and then fled the scene.

Investigators believe the man then fired multiple shots in town, but nobody was injured.

Eric Standing is charged with robbery and four weapons’ charges. He was taken into custody and set to appear in provincial court in Edmonton on Dec. 22.
