Hamilton police say a man has been charged following the stabbing death of his father in upper Stoney Creek on Wednesday.
Officers said in a statement they received a 911 call and responded to an address on Highland Road West, near Upper Centennial Parkway and Rymal Road East, at around noon on Wednesday.
The victim was pronounced dead in hospital just before 1 p.m. after suffering from multiple stab wounds.
On Thursday, police identified him as 60-year-old Janusz (John) Harpula.
Thomas Harpula, 29, has been charged with second-degree murder. He’s expected to make a court appearance on Jan. 17.
Police said there isn’t a threat to public safety and no additional suspects are being sought.
Harpula is the city’s 10th homicide victim of 2017.
