Man charged in Tuxedo murder

Calgary police have laid charges in the murder of a man in the northeast community of Tuxedo Park. 

24-year-old Christopher Michael Burr is charged with one count of second-degree murder. 

The body of 42-year-old Duane Laybourne was discovered Monday morning in a vehicle parked in an alley in the 100 block of 28 Ave. N.E. 

Police say a fight they believe was drug-related broke out Sunday night in a basement suite just a block away.

Police were called to the home after reports of gunfire. They found a gun in the front yard and blood smeared on a wall inside, but no victim. 

Laybourne’s body was discovered in the car 12 hours later. 

Police say the investigation is ongoing and officers continue to work on identifying everyone who was in the home at the time.
