Two Kamloops residents are recovering today after the same suspect allegedly broke into their homes and assaulted them.

Kamloops RCMP say the first victim came home from work Monday afternoon to find an unknown man in his Dallas neighbourhood home.

The two struggled and police say the homeowner received serious injuries, including lacerations to his head.

The suspect then ran from the home but broke into another nearby house. That homeowner was already at home and again, police say there was a physical confrontation. The homeowner was stabbed during the struggle.

An off-duty Kamloops RCMP officer saw the suspect leaving the second house. The officer chased the suspect who ran to a third home and then got into a vehicle belonging to that residence.

The officer was able to keep the suspect in the vehicle until other RCMP officers arrived on scene and arrested him.

The second homeowner who was stabbed has since been released from hospital, while the first homeowner is still in medical care.

The suspect, a 31-year-old man, is previously known to police and will go before a judge today.
