“She’s got a long history of being a teacher and administrator in Langley including being a superintendent. And she’s recently been working with the Ministry [of Education]. And I think all that experience will come to Vancouver and will help us as a district build on our current successes and improve things for our students.”

“One of the issues top of the mind at the moment is teacher recruitment and retention and implementation of the memorandum of understanding between the teacher unions and the districts and the province to a bigger degree. So to make sure we have all the staff we can have in place in our classrooms.”

Hoffman will start with the VSB in the new year.

14 months ago then-Superintendant Scott Robinson left the Vancouver School District suddenly, amid controversy over bullying by the elected school trustees.
