Sydney man charged with attempted murder, victim in critical condition

A Sydney man has been charged with attempted murder following an assault on a 54-year-old man that left the victim with serious injuries.

Cape Breton Regional Police say they were called to an apartment on Glenwood Street in Sydney on Sunday morning.

Other residents reported to police that the victim had been assaulted by a man known to them.

According to police, the victim was seriously injured. He was transported to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital by EHS, and then transferred for treatment in Halifax, where he remains in critical condition.

Patrol officers arrested a suspect a short time later.

Justin Frank Isaac-Francis, 25, has been charged with aggravated assault, attempted murder and several breaches of conditions.

He is schedule to appear in Sydney Provincial Court on Monday.
