Saskatoon police say they used a Taser on a 68-year-old man who threatened officers with a large kitchen knife.

Officers were called to the Forest Grove neighbourhood just after 11:30 p.m. CT on Saturday.

Officers arrived to find a man threatening to harm his wife and himself while holding the knife.

Police said when officers began giving verbal commands to the man, he turned his attention towards them and threatened them with the knife.

A conducted energy weapon (CEW) was used and the man was taken into custody. Police said he was not injured by the CEW, however, EMS took him to hospital for a pre-existing medical condition.
