Kyle Jahns, Communication Coordinator for the Winnipeg Humane Society, said the society is looking for donations. “No estimate has been made at this point but an insurance claim has been made,” said Jahns.

“At the same time we don’t know what will be covered but we know we have an amazing community and we’re putting the word out there for help.”

All of the pets were safe during the process and did not need to be relocated.

Community members are asked to help out through winnipeghumanesociety.ca where they can find a link to donate towards the cause. The society is hoping to be open again for adoption Wednesday.

The shelter is located at 45 Hurst Way in Fort Garry.
