Police in Fredericton have identified a suspect in a bank robbery on the city’s south side on Thursday that prompted a heavy police presence in a retail area.
Officers were called to a robbery in progress at around 3:45 p.m. at the TD Bank on Prospect Street.
“Part of the investigation is looking into that but we are treating it as an armed robbery,” said Staff Sgt. Edward Smith of the Fredericton Police Force.
Armed officers and the K9 unit could be seen combing the area around the Uptown Centre strip mall. Police say there were no injuries as a result of the robbery.

A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for Jeffrey George Gorsline, 37. He is also wanted on a separate warrant out of Nova Scotia for violating parole.
Gorsline is believed to be a driving a brown 2013 Hyundai Elantra with the Nova Scotia licence plate GDE 437 and may be heading towards Quebec.
“At this time, we’re still looking into that matter if he has any accomplices,” said Smith.
Anyone who spots Gorsline or his vehicle is asked not to approach him because he is considered violent. Instead, people should call 911 immediately.
