Oxford OPP have identified a 73-year-old Zorra Township man as the victim of a fatal collision Thursday west of Thamesford involving a train and pickup truck.

Emergency crews were called to the scene at the Canadian Pacific railway crossing on 13th Line, just north of Dundas Street, at around 9:30 a.m. Police said a westbound freight train with two engines and 80 cars had collided with a northbound pickup truck.

The driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead in the crash. On Friday, police identified the victim as James Henderson, 73, of Zorra Township.

The crossing does not have arms, but does have signals, which were active at the time, police said.

Few other details have been made available, and provincial police say they are continuing to investigate.
