Wildfires flared up across southern Alberta on Tuesday after wild winds fanned the flames.
Fourteen homes were destroyed, hundreds of evacuees were temporarily made homeless and 34-year-old firefighter James Hargrave died near the Cypress wildfire earlier this week.
The provincial government said Friday it stands ready to help victims.
Premier Rachel Notley told Global News her government will assist those who have been hit by the blaze, which scorched wide areas in several communities.
“We will evaluate what needs to happen and the degree to which insurance is there and what kinds of additional supports are needed,” she said.
“Our ministers are keeping a very close eye on the fallout and we will make sure we have the backs of these people who are struggling with this.”
