Ontario’s police watchdog has been called in to investigate after the fatality of a 36 year old man on the Lincoln Alexander Parkway.
Hamilton police were called to the area of the Linc near Golf Links Road just after 8:50 p.m. on Friday night for a report of a man in distress.
When police arrived on the scene the man had been hit by a tractor trailer.
He was sent to hospital and pronounced dead.
The westbound lanes of the parkway were closed in that area overnight and reopened just after 9 Saturday morning.
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked their mandate and will be leading the investigation.
Investigators want to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the events or who may have video of what happened.
The SIU is called in to investigate reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
