Man charged with arson in Cape Breton fires

Cape Breton Regional Police have charged a 23-year-old man in connection with two suspicious fires in Sydney, N.S.

Police originally said they were investigating three suspicious fires that occurred within a few hours of each other on Wednesday night – two on Kings Road and one on George Street.

Police say they arrested Kristopher Michael Clarke at the scene of one of the fires.

Clarke is now facing charges of arson causing damage in relation to a fire at a vacant house on George Street and arson with disregard for human life after a propane truck was set on fire on Kings Road.

No charges were laid in connection with the third fire.
