Red the detector dog has hung up his leash for the final time.
After eight years on the job at Nova Scotia’s Springhill Institution, the black Labrador is retiring from his duties with the Correctional Service of Canada.

Like many other retiring employees, he received a certificate and a gift on his final day on the job — it just happened to be squeak toy.
Red spent his time at the medium-security prison detecting specific odours and identifying the scent of contraband such as drugs.
