Video of Jason Momoa’s ‘rape beautiful women’ comment at ‘Game of Thrones’ panel surfaces

A disturbing clip of Game of Thrones actor Jason Momoa from Comic Con 2011 is making the rounds on Twitter Thursday, in which he said he loved working on the show because he got to “rape beautiful women.”

The clip surfaced in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal, where the Hollywood producer has been accused by nearly 30 women of sexual misconduct.

“As far as sci-fi and fantasy, the genre, there’s so many things you can do [with it],” Momoa can be heard saying.

He continued: “Rip someone’s tongue out of their throat and get away with it, rape beautiful women.”

The audience laughed at Momoa’s comment, while those on stage with him appeared to hang their heads in embarrassment at the rape comment.

Many people took to Twitter to criticize the actor for his comment.

Some people came to the Game of Thrones actor’s defence.

Other people on the social media platform began to compare Momoa’s behaviour to Ben Affleck’s, who was called out for his own inappropriate behaviour after condemning Weinstein on Twitter.

On Wednesday, news emerged of Affleck groping Hilarie Burton in an episode of MTV’s Total Request Live in 2003. Affleck has since apologized for acting “inappropriately towards Ms. Burton.”

Many began to denounce the new Justice League film, which stars Momoa and Affleck.

Momoa spoke about the subject of rape during a 2011 interview with the New York Post.

When he was asked about the infamous scene where his character, Khal Drogo, forces himself on Emilia Clarke’s character, Daenerys Targaryen, Momoa said, “Yeah, I’m raping [Daenerys]. I love her, but I’m hurting her and she’s crying. We could have made it longer, but you get the idea. I’m not a rapist. I prefer my women to enjoy sex.”

Momoa has yet to comment on the social media uproar about his comment from the 2011 panel.
