Kingston Police search for downtown bank robbery suspect

A tense situation unfolded in downtown Kingston after a bank robbery led the Kingston Police Tactical Unit to a nearby apartment building.

Kingston Police are searching for a lone suspect following a robbery at a downtown bank Wednesday afternoon.

Police confirm to CKWS News that a lone man entered the CIBC branch at the corner of Brock and Bagot Streets at about 3 o’clock. Inside the suspect demanded cash and once he got it, he fled on foot.

The search for a suspect initially led police to an apartment building about two blocks away from the bank.

Tactical officers were stationed outside 205 Bagot Street for over an hour with their weapons trained on a unit on one of the upper floors of the four floor building.

Eventually the tactical unit wrapped up at the scene and left.

Police say they are looking for a suspect who is balding with a beard. He stands 5’8″ tall and weighs about 200 lbs.
