Add West Vancouver to the list of municipalities in Metro Vancouver struggling with gun violence.

West Vancouver police are investigating after multiple shots were fired into a home in the city’s tony British Properties neighbourhood early Sunday morning.

Officers were called to the home on Finch Hill near Chippendale Road around 3:30 a.m.

When they arrived, they found damage from the gunfire to both the interior and exterior of the home, said West Vancouver Cst. Jeff Palmer.

The home had been hosting a house party earlier in the evening, but it remains unclear how many people were actually still there when the gunfire broke out, Palmer added.

Fortunately, no one was hurt.

“At this point we are working to just confirm all of the individuals who may have been at or around the home at the time of this incident, and confirm associations that anyone may have to the residence,” Palmer said.

“We’re working to develop more certainty about who may have been at or in the residence at the time of the shooting.”

Palmer said that while no area of Metro Vancouver is immune to criminal violence, he admitted shots fired calls in this community are unusual.

“It is a comparatively rare event for us. It doesn’t make it any less serious.”

Police have neither identified any suspects in the incident, nor determined a motive.

Investigators are hoping to collect any security footage from the area.
