Rockets’ coach makes the cut

Several Kelowna Rockets were recognized as the Western Hockey League announced its Western Conference all star teams and award finalists on Thursday.

After guiding the Rockets to a 52 win season and second place overall in the WHL, head coach Ryan Huska is a finalist for the WHL Coach of the Year award.

Rookie Rourke Chartier is the Western Conference Scholastic Player of the Year while Zach Franko is the Most Sportsmanlike Player in the Western Conference.

President and General Manager Bruce Hamilton was also recognized and is the Western Conference Executive of the Year.

The WHL also named its Western Conference all star teams and two Rockets were named.

Rockets leading scorer Myles Bell as well as starting goalie Jordon Cooke were both named as second team all-stars.

The winners of these awards along with the WHL Player of the Year will be announced at the 2013 WHL Awards Luncheon in Calgary, Alberta on Wednesday, May 1st, 2013.
