Ring’s mother, Cindy McEwen, told Global News she was heartbroken to learn Kuhlman, who she said was her son’s best friend and roommate, was charged in his death.

“I wish I could say I was doing a happy dance, but actually, I’m brokenhearted,” McEwen said.

Police said all the accused are known to each other and to Ring and confirmed a search of a home on Monday in the southwestern Saskatchewan city was related to the case.
