Multiple officers and vehicles converged outside the Del Mar Inn on Hamilton Street between Dunsmuir Street West Pender Street around 6 p.m.
Officers, seen carrying rifles and shields and wearing tactical gear, attempted to make contact with the man to check on this well-being.
After several hours of investigation, police say the man was found nearby and transported to hospital for medical assessment.
