Murder charge laid after man found in Wetaskiwin apartment stairwell

A 34-year-old man from Maskwacis was arrested and charged Wednesday with second-degree murder after Justin Eagle was found with severe injuries in Wetaskiwin on Aug. 26.

RCMP said Eagle, 45, died at the Wetaskiwin Hospital the same night he was found in an apartment stairwell.

An autopsy determined his death was homicide.

On Wednesday morning, police arrested Dustin Walter Okeymow, 34, without incident. He has been charged with one count of second-degree murder.

Okeymow is scheduled to appear in Ponoka Provincial Court on Sept. 15.
