For the sixth year in a row, the Centraide Cup took over the Saputo Stadium.
About 500 people from a number of different companies hit the pitch to participate in the soccer event.
The charity tournament raises funds for Centraide and the Montreal Impact Foundation to support programs that prevent school dropout and improve the quality of life for youth and families.

“This weekend, we raised $225,000,” said Centraide’s president Lili-Anna Peresa.”We will be investing it to make sure that our youth succeeds. We want to make sure that they have that high school diploma, that is so important in life, to break the cycle of poverty.”
Since it started, the Centraide Cup has raised just under $2 million.

“It’s an event that both Centraide and the Montreal Impact Foundation have the same objective and that’s to give back to the community, and those who are less fortunate,” said Carmie Saputo, president of the Montreal Impact Foundation.
Soccer fans can attend the tournament for free all weekend.
The playoffs will be held on Sunday, Sept. 10 at 2 p.m.
The winning teams of the competitive and recreational tournaments will be announced at 4 p.m.
