A man wanted in an alleged March 2017 sexual assault has been identified and taken into Edmonton police custody “without incident,” police said Friday.
On Thursday, police turned to the public for help identifying the man after investigating a sexual assault for five months and “exhausting all other investigative avenues.” Edmonton police are turning to the public for help identifying a sexual assault suspect.
Officers were called on April 10, 2017 regarding a sexual assault that occurred in March.
A woman in her late 50s reported being sexually assaulted by a man between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. in the area of 72 Street and 81 Avenue on March 31.

Police said the woman knew the man as an acquaintance. She told officers he contacted her after a number of years and allegedly sexually assaulted her during their brief visit.
A police spokesperson couldn’t comment further on the nature of their relationship.
Edmonton police said charges are pending against the suspect.
