Drayton Valley man dies after crash north of Grande Prairie

A 29-year-old man from Drayton Valley has died after he was involved in a two-vehicle crash north of Grande Prairie, Alta. over the weekend, the RCMP said Monday.

Police said officers were helping firefighters with a vehicle on Highway 43 shortly before midnight on Sunday when they were told of a crash at the “end of the line of traffic.”

They said the crash involved a pickup truck and another vehicle they believe was stopped in traffic. Police said the driver of the pickup truck died of injuries he suffered in the crash. The RCMP did not say if any other injuries were reported.

The family of the victim has been notified but RCMP said they will not release his name.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
