Former U.S. president Barack Obama left a congratulatory letter for his replacement in the Oval Office as he was leaving office.
Obama told Donald Trump: “I don’t know that any advice from me will be particularly helpful” but still offered four reflections, in the letter which was obtained by CNN.
Obama didn’t show the letter to any staffers before he left it for Trump, CNN reported.

However, Trump has shared the letter with several people which is how CNN says it obtained it.

Obama said the pair had “been blessed,” but said it was up to both of them to look out for the less fortunate and “build more ladders of success for every child and family that’s willing to work hard.”
He also encouraged Trump to “sustain the international order that’s expanded steadily since the end of the Cold War.”

Obama also suggested that his successor should be a “guardian of democratic institutions, protecting rule of law, separation of powers, equal protection and civil liberties.”

Finally, he told the new U.S. president to take time out of his hectic life for friends and family as “they’ll get you through the inevitable rough patches.”
He closed off by saying, “Michelle and I wish you and Melania the very best as you embark on this great adventure, and know that we stand ready to help in any ways which we can.”
