Calgary election 2017: Joe Magliocca wins Ward 2
Incumbent Joe Magliocca has been re-elected to represent Ward 2 on Calgary City Council, according to unofficial results Monday night.
Below is a full list of candidates.
Joe Magliocca was elected to Calgary council in the 2013 election after serving as the president of the Hamptons Community Association. Magliocca advocates on the issues of transportation, public transit, recreation and community services.
George Georgeou has lived in Calgary his entire life and is a licensed realtor and construction professional. Georgeou hopes to make informed choices in the best interests of Ward 2 constituents by gathering information and analyzing data on key issues facing Calgarians, including traffic, basement suites, public art, an Olympic bid and CalgaryNEXT.
Christopher Maitland is an automotive service advisor who has lived in Ward 2 all his life. If elected as councillor, he would aim to freeze wages and reduce benefits for councilors, as well as implement a zero-budget-based system.
Jennifer Wyness says she has extensive experience working and volunteering with non-profit organizations focusing on public safety and health. If elected to city council, she hopes to tackle issues like fiscal responsibility, transparency on council and innovation.
