Dalhousie University’s $64-million revamp of its engineering and architecture campus just got a big boost from Irving Oil through a $2.2 million donation by the company.
On Monday, a joint release by the university and New Brunswick-based company said the donation would allow for the building of technology and design labs, learning spaces for students and new engineering facilities.

New buildings and spaces are not the only aspects coming out of the donation either, with more than $700,000 in scholarships also being made available to engineering students for the next 10 years. Co-op opportunities with Irving Oil will also be offered to scholarship recipients.
The university also says the new state-of-the-art, 450-seat auditorium being built will be named the Irving Oil Auditorium.
Construction is already underway for the project, also known as the IDEA Project (Innovation and Design in Engineering and Architecture Project), and has an expected completion date of spring 2018.
