Police are looking for the person responsible for sexually assaulting a woman in Sherwood Park, Alta.
Strathcona County RCMP said a woman was walking on a path towards Cloverbar Lane at around 5:30 p.m. Monday when she was approached from behind by a man. Police said the victim was wearing earphones so she didn’t hear the man approaching.
He grabbed the woman and forced her into tall grass next to the path where she was sexually assaulted, police said. During the attack, the victim was able to get away and yell for help.

The attacker ran west towards Cloverbar Lane and the victim immediately called police.
“Police searched the area. They’ve searched neighbouring places, looking for surveillance and talking to neighbours,” Const. Chantelle Kelly said.
The victim wasn’t physically injured during the attack. Police said the area where the attack happened is usually well populated during the late afternoon.
“We’re asking people that were around that area yesterday at around 5:30, that might know someone that matches the description or maybe they’ve seen them in the area before, to call police and provide that information,” Kelly said.
The suspected is described as six feet tall, between 200 and 250 lbs, in his early 20s, with short brown hair that is balding on the top. He was wearing a white golf shirt, blue jeans and skateboard-type shoes during the attack, according to RCMP.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Strathcona County RCMP at 780-467-7741.
