Driver killed in Vernon crash may have run red light

Driver of stolen pickup killed in Vernon collision – Jul 19, 2017

UPDATE – RCMP say the pickup driver may have run a red light at the intersection of 20th Street and 47th Avenue.

The 31-year-old man is believed to be a Kelowna resident. His body was recovered from the creek.

The pickup had been stolen.

The motorcyclist, a 19-year-old Vernon man, is in serious but stable condition in hospital.

A crash involving a motorcycle and pickup truck in Vernon has claimed the life of one of the drivers.

It happened Tuesday at about 9:30 p.m. on 20th Street.

The collision left the motorcyclist injured on the road. He was conscious when taken to hospital by ambulance.

The truck smashed through a fence, tumbled down an embankment, and ended up in a small creek.

A fire department spokesperson say the driver was ejected and died at the scene.
