WINNIPEG — Following their second straight pre-season tie, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers continued the cut down process.

The Bombers released six players on Friday. Receiver Justice Liggins, offensive linemen Trevan Brown and Cody Speller, linebacker Nick Temple and defensive backs Darnell Walker Jr and Matt Smalley were all let go.

Liggins, 22, scored a touchdown in their first exhibition game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders, but he had just one catch for six yards in their tie with the Edmonton Eskimos.

Smalley, 23, was also trying out for a job as kick returner. He returned a pair of kicks for 52 yards against the Eskies.

With Smalley and Liggins released, and TJ Thorpe suffering a knee injury against the Eskimos, the Bombers will probably start the season with Kevin Fogg and Ryan Lankford handling the returner duties.

The Bombers have until Saturday night to submit their 46 man roster. They can also keep up to 10 players on the practice squad in addition to the players who are injured.
