Dan Ashton is calling for a review of Okanagan Lake management.

The Penticton MLA said the review is necessary in the wake of extensive flooding, especially along the shores of Okanagan Lake.

“With the circumstances that transpired this year, I really think it requires a review and I will be asking government to take a look at it and see if we can prevent this from happening again,” Ashton said.

Some have criticized government agencies in charge of lake management, wondering why more water wasn’t released from Okanagan Lake.

Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations Public Safety and Protection said there was nothing to indicate that 2017 snowpack levels would be problematic.

Ashton insists the review is not going to be a witch-hunt but says questions need to be addressed.
