Suspicious object reported in vehicle false alarm: Saskatoon police

Saskatoon police said a call about a suspicious object in a vehicle turned out to be a false alarm.

A vehicle owner called police just before 9 a.m. CT on Tuesday to report what he believed to be suspicious object inside his SUV.

His vehicle was in a parking lot in the 1500-block of 20th Street West near the intersection of Avenue P South.

A safety perimeter was established around the vehicle by officers and the members of the explosive disposal unit were brought in.

A woman was located inside the vehicle and Global News learned she was refusing to comply with police.

She was later removed and taken to a safe location. The women was found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant and was taken into custody.

Officers said a search of the vehicle turned up no explosive device.

A police dog capable of detecting explosive devices, and a robot, were both utilized.
