Northern Bears heading to Esso Cup after 7-6 comeback win vs Wildcats

Brooklyn Anderson scored with 2:00 left in the third period to erase a three-goal deficit and lift the Prince Albert Northern Bears to a 7-6 victory and complete the weekend sweep over the visiting Westman Wildcats.

With the win, the Northern Bears earn a berth to the Esso Cup, their first-ever appearance at the national championship tournament.

The Wildcats were leading 6-3 in the third period, but two goals from Prince Albert’s Brooke Hobson brought the home team within one. Then with 3:00 minutes left in the game, the Bears went on a powerplay and Abby Soyko evened the score.

The Esso Cup runs from April 23 to 29 in Morden, Man.
