Province ponies up for Okanagan Rail Trail

Kelowna will receive more than $777,000 in BikeBC funding this year for the Okanagan Rail Trail.

The money will be used to connect the airport and the university to downtown Kelowna from Airport Way to Dilworth Drive.

“BikeBC is about building connected, healthy communities,” Premier Christy Clark said. “If you give people more ways to get around to work, play, and exercise, they’ll take advantage of those opportunities – especially in a beautiful place like the Okanagan Rail Trail.”

This funding announcement brings the provincial government’s contribution to the Okanagan Rail Trail project to $8.45 million.

BikeBC is the Province’s cost-sharing program for communities wanting to cycling projects.
