Male suspect sought in downtown Toronto shooting: police

Toronto Police are looking for a male suspect after a man was shot in the hip early Saturday outside the Thompson Diner, in what is now the second shooting near the restaurant in a month.

Police said officers responded to a call around 5:23 a.m. about shots just outside the entrance to the restaurant at Wellington and Bathurst streets.

The man was taken to hospital by two of his friends and is in serious condition. According to police, the friends are not cooperating with the investigation.

Police describe the suspect as 6’0″, between the ages of 25 and 35, with a large build, light complexion, shaved head and trimmed beard. He was wearing a black jacket with a white shirt underneath and white pants.

Just over a month ago, a man in his 20s was shot in the knee just outside of the same diner. The victim suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.
