One dead in two-vehicle collision in Cheticamp, N.S.

CHETICAMP, N.S. – A 63-year-old man was killed Tuesday when his car collided with a dump truck in a construction zone in Cheticamp.

RCMP say the collision occurred in the morning outside the Cheticamp Motel in the community on Cape Breton’s west coast.

Police say a dump truck was traveling north on the main road while the other vehicle was traveling south when the collision occurred in an area where there was construction going on.

The driver of the car later succumbed to his injuries while the female passenger received minor injuries.

The driver of the dump truck was not injured.

Police say the cause of the collision is still under investigation.
