Ryan Meili, a Saskatoon doctor and founder of a think-tank focused on the health of Canadians, has stated his intentions to enter provincial politics.
In a Facebook post, Meili said he is seeking the Saskatchewan NDP nomination for Saskatoon-Meewasin.
He’ll be running in the riding of the late Roger Parent.
Parent, who was serving his second term as MLA, tragically passed away suddenly after a battle with cancer at the age of 63.

This will not be the first time Meili has tried his hand at politics.
He ran for the leadership of the provincial NDP in 2009 and lost to Dwain Lingenfelter.
He ran again in 2013, when Cam Broten was declared leader.
A byelection date has not been set.
