The funeral for Saskatchewan MLA Roger Parent was held Monday at Saskatoon’s Lakeview Church.
Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall was expected to speak as friends and family mourned and paid tribute to Parent.

Last Tuesday, news of Parent’s cancer diagnosis was released to the public and he passed away hours later at Royal University Hospital with family by his side.
He was 63.
The Saskatoon Meewasin MLA was first elected to the Saskatchewan legislature in the 2011 provincial election and was re-elected earlier this year.
Parent served in a variety of capacities including on the standing committee for human services and the special committee on traffic safety.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan are welcome.
