Police are hoping a grainy photo of an SUV will trigger someone to come forward with more information about the April killing of a 34-year-old man in west Edmonton.

On Wednesday, police released a photo of the suspect vehicle in the April 14 homicide of Kelly Thompson.

At around 10 p.m. that night, officers were called to the area of 137 Street and 115 Avenue after Thompson was found in critical condition. He later died in hospital.

Police have said they believe four or five suspects, wearing dark clothing with hoods, got out of the SUV and beat Thompson with baseball bats before driving away.

Investigators are now looking for a light-coloured SUV with tinted windows.

“We are looking to speak with anyone who may have seen this newer model SUV in and around the area of 137 Street and 115 Avenue on the evening of April 14, 2016,” Edmonton Police Service Homicide Section Det. Alan Elliott said in a release.

“We hope this photo will jog the memory of someone who has information critical to this homicide investigation.”

Anyone with information about wither the SUV in question or Thompson’s homicide in general is asked to call the Edmonton Police Service at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Tips can also be anonymously submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online.
