Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning calling for “significant snowfall” of 15 centimetres for the following regions:
- Toronto
- Brantford – County of Brant
- Hamilton
- Halton – Peel
- York – Durham
- Innisfil – New Tecumseth – Angus
- Kitchener – Cambridge – region of Waterloo
“Snow has gradually become heavier across southern Ontario this afternoon,” read a statement from the weather agency which had earlier issued a special weather advisory.
The snow is expected to intensify overnight and lighten up towards Monday morning.

Commuters can expect a slower-than-usually morning commute.
Toronto police have already reported a number of accidents and collisions in the city.
The city has approximately 1,200 pieces of snow-fighting equipment which may be deployed overnight. “Midnight into 5 a.m. should be the busiest,” said Hector Moreno, manager of Road Operations. Moreno advised the public to leave extra time for travel and take public transit if possible.
