The 39-year-old actor already has a collection of body art, but revealed to Esquire UK he has to get at least one more, thanks to a bet he lost to The Revenant co-star Leonardo DiCaprio.

Hardy and DiCaprio starred together in the 2015 film, and the movie, shot mostly in Alberta, went on to win three Golden Globes and five BAFTA Awards. It also helped DiCaprio nab his first-ever Academy Award.

DiCaprio apparently thought Hardy’s performance as John Fitzgerald would get the English actor an Oscar nomination. Hardy didn’t agree. He told Esquire the two made a wager that whoever was wrong had to get a tattoo of the winner’s choosing. In the end, Hardy was indeed nominated for best actor in a supporting role – although he didn’t end up winning.

So what exactly will the tattoo look like? Hardy told the magazine DiCaprio wrote “in this really s**tty handwriting: ‘Leo knows everything.’”

“I was like, ‘OK, I’ll get it done, but you have to write it properly.'”

“I haven’t got [the tattoo] yet,” Hardy told Esquire. “Because it sucks.”

Hardy didn’t reveal the specifics of when he’s going to get the tattoo — or where.
