Fatal crash kills motorcyclist in Abbotsford

One man is dead following a collision involving a motorcycle and a Dodge Ram pickup truck near Old Yale Road and Essendene Avenue in Abbotsford on Saturday morning, according to a news release from the Abbotsford Police Department.

It appears that the motorcycle was travelling eastwards and crossed the center line into the path of the westbound pick-up truck in the 33900-block of Old Yale Road, the release said. The incident was reported at 11:49 a.m.

Abbotsford Police, Abbotsford Fire Rescue and BC Ambulance staff arrived on the scene and the male motorcycle drive was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. He was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after he arrived, the release said.

It added that the male driver of the pickup truck and his female passenger were shaken but uninjured.

Abbotsford Police are asking witnesses of the tragic incident to call them at 604-859-5225 or text them at 222973 (abbypd).
