The northbound lanes of Highway 2 were reduced Wednesday morning at the Highway 616 Millet overpass due to a vehicle fire.
RCMP sent out a news release just before 8 a.m., saying the northbound lanes of the major central Alberta highway were closed. They later reopened one lane.
Mounties asked drivers heading in that direction to take alternate routes.
Several collisions were also reported on the 29-kilometre stretch between Millet and the Highway 19 overpass by Nisku.
RCMP who patrol the QEII said roads were icy in the area, and urged caution.
