Lester B. Pearson School Board (LBPSB) commissioners gathered behind closed doors Saturday morning in a meeting that lasted well into the afternoon.

Commissioners remained tight-lipped on whether the meeting was about the ethics report that has some members of the community calling for the chair of the board, Suanne Stein Day, to resign.

“It was a standard workshop, we have just about every November, we get a lot of internal business done,” Stein Day said.

“Did you talk about the ethics report at any point?” Global News asked.

“No, this is just a standard meeting,” Stein Day replied after coming out of the six-and-a-half-hour meeting.

An investigation by the ethics commissioner determined the person in question had breached the code of ethics on three occasions.

However, a cone of silence has reigned over the LBPSB as the ethics commissioner ordered commissioners not to reveal any details of the report.

The board will be holding regular public meeting Monday. Each meeting includes a question period.

At last Monday’s executive committee meeting, the commissioners retreated behind closed doors to discuss two items on the agenda —  their mandate and salaries – with the move upsetting regular attendees at the public meetings.
