A veil of secrecy covered Monday night’s Lester B. Pearson School Board (LBPSB) executive committee meeting.
Partway through the evening, the commissioners retreated behind closed doors to discuss two items on the agenda — their mandate and salaries – the move upset regular attendees at the public meetings.

“I’ve been coming to these meetings since the inception of this school board, that’s 18 years ago, 1998,” said Chris Eustace, a retired teacher.
“They have only gone on camera in the middle of a meeting this month and last month and the only reason they went on camera in the middle of a meeting is because you folks, the press were here.”
The LBPSB is embroiled in a breach of ethics scandal by one of its commissioners, but board’s own ethics committee has been mum about the affair.
It hasn’t named the person in question or the nature of the breaches.
