Banff RCMP say vandals have caused about $30,000 in damage to an award-winning pedestrian bridge.
The foot bridge, which opened in July 2013, crosses over the Bow River, connecting Muskrat Street to Glen Avenue. In 2014, the structure won a prestigious award from the Institution of Structural Engineers based in London, England.

RCMP say the bridge was damaged sometime in the early morning hours on Oct. 26. They believe someone used a hand tool to pry at the handrail and lighting.

The Town of Banff is located about 130 kilometres west of Calgary.
