A new Care2petition is urging Drake to donate proceeds from his new track, Two Birds, One Stone, to mental health charities.

The rapper took a verbal jab at Kid Cudi on the new song, and the public reaction has gone from social media criticism to an online call to action, with more than 5,000 people signing the petition already.

Many believe Drake crossed a line when he dissed Kid Cudi (whose debut album is titled Man on the Moon) over his recent admission to rehab over depression and suicidal urges.

“My numbers are out of the world, no wonder they got me feeling so alienated/You were the man on the moon, now you go through your phases/Live for the angry and famous,” Drake raps on the track.

In early October, Kid Cudi wrote an emotional open letter to fans about checking into rehab, admitting that he’s a “damaged human” who struggles to leave the house on a daily basis.

He wrote the lengthy post on his Facebook page and also revealed he doesn’t trust anyone because of his anxiety.

Kid Cudi responded on Twitter to Drake’s attack, tweeting “Say it to [my] face, p****. You think its a game. I wanna see you say it to my face. I’ll be out soon. Promise.”

The beef between Cudi and Drake began in September when Cudi called him (and Kanye West) out on Twitter.

West lashed out against Cudi, but later backed down.

Following the initial incident, Drake dissed Cudi at a show.

Insult was added to Kid Cudi’s injury when it was revealed that Two Birds, One Stone was co-written and produced by West. But to the credit of the Life of Pablo musician, West has been full of praise for Kid Cudi lately, and it seems like the beef between the two of them has run its course.

West called Kid Cudi “the most influential artist of the last 10 years” in October. More recently, he asked his fans to sing Father Stretch My Hands Pt.1 in Kid Cudi’s honour during a recent stop on his Saint Pablo tour. It’s not known how involved West was in the writing process, or if he was even aware of the offensive lyrics.

In response to the lyrics, the petition reads:

The lyrics above were intended to make fun of Kid Cudi’s depression.

Mental health is not a joking manner. [sic] According to Mental Health America, the most common disorder amongst suicide victims is depression. Depression or bi-polar disorder affects about 30-70 percent of suicide victims.

Please sign to tell Drake to donate the proceeds from his new song, Two Birds One Stone, to mental health charities!
