Charlie Clark is now officially the mayor of Saskatoon and felt an “energy” in council chambers at a swearing in ceremony Monday night.
Walking into chambers for the first time as mayor was “pretty emotional,” he told reporters.
“If you were to ask me a month ago … I would not have imagined the level of enthusiasm and the sense of energy on this council,” Clark said.

Clark received 41 per cent of the vote in last Wednesday’s election. His opponent Don Atchison, who was the longest serving mayor in Saskatoon’s history, had 37 per cent. Kelley Moore garnered 22 per cent.
The incoming mayor acknowledged council faces hard work ahead. The civic budget will be brought to the city’s governance and priorities committee on Nov. 7.
“What gives me confidence is that I think we have a very good council,” Clark said, emphasizing collaboration and diversity on council.
